Hello,

I am importing 25k products and as soon as the upload starts, about 30 sec in it give me the flowing error:

"The script has been running longer than the maximum allowed execution time, this usually indicates the import has stopped."

I have gone into limits in my setting and maxed out everything, the sheet is only like 35mb si it should cause a problem. Does this mean my spread sheet is wrong or what.

I noticed that if I go to the products and refresh that is slowly adding more in but after about 15 minutes it stops at about 1000 products.

And if I just upload like 10 rows from CSV file it works fine so it seem that maybe the size of the file is the issue.

Hello,

Of course you have a VPS or dedicated server where this is allowed ;)

Read the article Manage timeouts it will tell you how to configure CSVI to deal with your large file and server settings.

With such a large file, it needs some tweaking.
Kind regards,

Thanks for your reply. I may have stated that inaccurately, I have gone into the CSVI settings for the upload template and maxed out all the options in the "limits" tab. I have just put "1000000000" for all of them.

I have a Cpanel account in which I have not adjusted any setting, is that advisable?

Can you also elaborate a little further on what you mean by "tweaks" I have adjusted all the setting in CSVI to what looks right and I am not sure what else should be changed to accommodate a larger file?

Thank you for your help!

I think I figured it out.

It seems I just needed to set it to like 10 lines per import run in the settings because it is bringing over some large image files. So I think each line is just taking along time.

Do you know if it is possible to just keep them image on the external server and not save them to my server and have Virtuemart just use the URL to populate the image?

That is indeed what I meant with the tweaking, as that is pointed out in the tutorial I linked. You need to lower the number of lines per run, so the whole process has time to restart when needed.

As far as I know VM does not support external URLs.

Thanks for the help but now I am running into a different error message in combination with the old one. I have set the lines per run to 5 so I feel that is pretty low. I have broken up my file of 25k lines into several smaller files, I uploaded some okay but one of them keep running into this error at different points, it never ends on the same line so i cant figure out the the problem is. I'll attach an image of the error message I get.

Please let me know if there are any settings that you think might help this. Thanks a lot.

Hello,

Indeed, 5 is pretty low. A file with 25k lines shouldn't be a problem as it is more than 5 anyway.

The error itself is pretty obscure :) Other than it running out of time, according to CSVI, I don't see anything in particular. Do you have a lot of images per product in this file? Downloading and processing remote images takes time. This is one of the usual suspects for running out of time.

The one thing you can also try is follow this article Using Firebug to analyze import problems to see if that gets us some more information.
Kind regards,

RolandD
