Hello,
Clean media files will check for image links in virtuemart media table and if the image do not exist entry will be removed from virtumart_medias table and also from media related table for product, category, manufacturer and vendors. Probably your image links are all valid ones so nothing would have happened.
Can you tell me what you are trying to do so i can help?
Kind regards,
Tharuna
