I have used CSVI on old VM1.15 sites before. I was surprised that there were no sample templates with the installation. I followed the instructions on:
https://www.csvimproved.com/support/export/204-virtuemart/842-export-virtuemart-products
When I created a Product Export template, I was unable to locate the fields for description (short or long) or the product price. I am using a brand new Joomla3.5.1 with Virtuemart 3.0.8 and sample products. I installed the plg_csviaddon_virtuemart_csvi_6.5.7 I plan to create an export of the demo products that will provide me with the field-names and format for me to perform an import of my products csv file. Are there any sample templates to install? I have a very basic - but huge - database to import. Name, sku, short-description, qty-in-stock, available-date, price, product-image.

Hello,

I was surprised that there were no sample templates with the installation.
That is why there is the Install example templates documentation.

These are examples and not tailored to your situation templates, just keep that in mind.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Thank you for the quick reply. I installed the sample templates. I tried to edit the VM product import template, but it did not recognize the "product_s_desc" field as an option. I used phpmyadmin to verify that there is a field with that name. I am including a short sample of my CSV file, which was generated with CSVI 0.9 for J1VM1. I deleted the columns/fields I did not need. The field-separator is ^ and there are no field enclosures. I have 9 fields total to import. Please point me in the right direction, for I am feeling confused. Thank you.

Hello,
Try to update your available fields, that should solve your issue of not seeing product_s_desc field.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

I am trudging along...I have all of the fields except for product images, so I have been able to import products, but not the images. I have uploaded all of the images from the old VM1.1.15 store to the folder: /images/stories/virtuemart/product and I have the name of the image for each product in the VM-export field: product_full_image. Is there a way to import this information without having to do a second import of image data? In the example image import template there is no SKU so I have no idea of how to tie the image to the product. I remember in VM1 I was able to import products and images with a single csv file. Has this changed? :)

THANKS!
I got it to work. I had to use file_url - not picture_url. It worked like a charm. Thanks! Now I can dump the database and do it for real on a clean Virtuemart - 48,000 products - 30,000 pictures - I feel stoked!
