Hello. I am trying to import a new parent with child, in which the parent has the custom field of Generic Child Variant. I have been able to setup both parent and child using the attached import but have not been able to get the custom field to set properly. I haven't done parent/child imports since VM 1x so not sure what is required to get this imported correctly in VM 3x. Any help would be most appreciated. Thank you!

Hello,

Unfortunately, there are too many ways you can create a parent/child in VirtueMart nowadays :) As to what is correct, all depends on what kind of relationship you want to establish.

I don't see anything odd in your CSV file but please post your debug log as well.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Thank you for the reply. I have seen that there are many different ways of having parent/child relationships now. I simply installed VM with sample data so I could see some examples of what exists for this. I basically need a simple part/child relationship where the children are stockable items and have full stock control - in this situation I am just looking to have clothing items that have different sizes acting as children (parents not orderable). I found an example in the sample data where the parent had a custom field value of Generic Child Variant and it is this that I need in order for the children to be selectable . Debug log attached. Any help most appreciated. Thank you!

Hello,

With the debug log I see a big issue. The list of the fields in your template is not in the same order as the fields in your CSV file. You have switched around the custom_title and custom_param field. So change the order of those 2 fields in your template to match the order in the CSV file and give it another try.
Kind regards,

RolandD
