Hi RolandD,
I am using:
- VM3.0.10
- Joomla 3.4.8
- CSVI Pro 6.4.3

I want to import multivariant according to your guide (https://www.csvimproved.com/support/import/203-virtuemart/1064-importing-multi-variant-custom-field)
I tried to add two fields to VM (Lichtfarbe and Abstrahlwinkel) I created them as "Produktvariante", but then I can't see them as available fields in CSVI (Yes I cleared the cache, reset the tasks and updates the available fields).
The only custom field of VM which shows up in CSVI are fields with the type "Zeichenfolge", but this doesn't work as multivariant.

How do I have to set up the fields in VM to be shown in CSVI? In your guide how to create the fields "Size" and "Color"?

Many thanks in advance.

Boris

Hello Boris,

That is actually correct, Multi Variant fields won't show up in the list of available fields. Only their ramifications will.

How do I have to set up the fields in VM to be shown in CSVI?
What you have done is good enough. They are not visible since you use the multi_variant_title and multi_variant_fields to specify them.

In your guide how to create the fields "Size" and "Color"?
You don't create them in VM, CSVI will create them for you when imported. So when you have done the first import (it's a 2-step process), the Size and Color will be in the list of available fields.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hi Roland,

I'm still not on the track. What do you enter in the template for the variant-field then? In the first screenshot you see I have to enter a field if I use the mapper. If I create an import template by hand, dont assign a field for the Multivaraint and import the fields should be available in CSVI after the first import and update of the available fields, right? After the first import no new fields are created. If I import twice also nothing changes. The only thing I can see is that one article is now parent article of the other one.

Many thanks

Boris

Hello Boris,

What do you enter in the template for the variant-field then?
The field skip because that field doesn't exist yet, once it exists you can map it.

If I create an import template by hand, dont assign a field for the Multivaraint and import the fields should be available in CSVI after the first import and update of the available fields, right?
Incorrect, you should always use the multi_variant_title and multi_variant_fields fields when importing Multi Variants.

After the first import no new fields are created.
You will need to post the debug log for me to check further if you want. Let me take a guess, you said "I tried to add two fields to VM (Lichtfarbe and Abstrahlwinkel)" but in the screenshot you have named the field "Multi Variant". CSVI won't find your field.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hi Roland,

the hint with the skip-field was the right one, now it works like a charm. Little suggestion: perhaps you should add one sentence and/or a screenshot regarding the skip field in the manual.

Last but not least: I tried two other tools before I tested CSVI and your tool is the only one which works perfect for multivariants.

Many thanks for your quick support and this marvelous tool!
