Hello CSVI,

I have a very large file of about 200k products that I am importing into virtuemart and it is taking a while because large images are being brought over. So I was wondering if I can break up my CSV file and run multiple imports from different computers or on the same one at the same time?

I imagine it will use bandwidth a lot quicker but let me know if this will cause any problems with the upload or anything like that.

thank you very much!

Hello Alex,

Yes that is possible as long as you keep child products in mind if you use them.

There is no problem for CSVI, you just need to keep in mind how much the server can handle. If your concern is the speed, you could also make 2 imports where you have 1 where you import all product info without the images and a separate one with the images. This way the main product info goes in quite a lot faster.

You should keep an eye out for CSVI 6, this is quite a lot faster than CSVI 5. This has been tested against a 1 million record CSV file.
Kind regards,

RolandD

That will definitely be nice, this upload will take about a week to process the entire thing (200k products)

Unfortunately right now I am not able to upload anything at all due to an error, did you get chance to look into my other topic titled: "Unknown column 'custom_price' in 'field list' SQL" I am pretty much dead in the water until I get an answer to that question.

Thanks a lot.

I have answered that question but haven't received the requested information yet. Once I get that, I can check it further.
Kind regards,
