Hi Roland,

Just a quick question relating to importing images alongside the product import CSV.

I have just been looking through the documentation to "Import VirtueMart 2 Images", and at the end of the section "Creating the import file" there is a paragraph that states "To be able to create a thumbnail upload an image called hammer.png to your server in the folder images/stories/virtuemart/product.".

Am I right in thinking that this means that the CSV import will process the images if necessary, but they need to be uploaded first (either via the media manager or via FTP)?

Sorry if this seems to be a silly question, but having read through the documentation it is not 100% clear to me, and I need to pass this on to a client in a way that he can understand it.

Thank you in advance

Regards

John

Hello John,

Correct. If the image doesn't exist on the server, CSVI can't do anything with it. There is one more option in CSVI that allows you to pull images from a remote server and save it in your own site. In that case the file_url field has to be an http:// url. This is the Save images on server option.
Kind regards,

Hi Roland,

Thank you, once again you have been most helpful. as the images will be on my clients local PC he will have to manually upload them, but at least we now know that he can upload the "raw" image files, and then CSVi can process and resize them if necessary (though I will recommend that he does this before uploading etc).

Thank you again for your help on this one, and on the custom fields import issue earlier, very much appreciated.

Regards

John
