Joomla 3.4.5
CSVI Pro 6.3.0 (patched)

Hello. Rolandd helped me a couple days ago with a patch to set up a custom table export. That is working great. I have exported my custom table fields using CSVI Pro. I am now trying to do a small test import into the same table using CSVI Pro and the import is timing out. Here are the steps I have taken:
Created custom Export template
Export three table fields from a custom table into a CSV file.
Edited the CSV file, deleting most of the content and then editing three entries as a test. Saved this text file.
Copied the Export template and changed it into a Import template. Set the File parameters to Autodetect: Yes, I'm Mac: No, Use file for configuration: No, Skip first line: Yes,
Go to Import, select my file for import, Preview file (Looks good) Start Import. Import screen comes up, grey overlay appears. Server does not respond. Process is cancelled. (Grey overlay stays in place).
No changes made to table.
Debug log shows nothing other then that it was starting the log

Any idea why the import is not succeeding?
Thanks!

Hello,

Please have a look at the Using firebug to analyze problems tutorial to see if there are any JavaScript issues. Post here your findings for me to check.

A screenshot of the trouble screen would be helpful too.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Great suggestion. In Firebug I am getting a 404 not found error which in turn is trying to load the custom error page in my front-end template in the pop-up. This happens as soon as I click on the Start Import:

"NetworkError: #404 View not found [name, type, prefix]: category, php, contentView - http://www.mydomain.com/administrator/components/com_csvi/rantai/rantai.php?task=import&runId=13&_=1446233980006";

I also tried a different template for the front-end. The pop-up displays the template error page with the Network error message listed above.

Why oh why is my memory failing now, I am quite sure someone else once had this error before but I can't find anything related to this anymore.

Let's see. The contentViewcategory is not something related to CSVI because it is the Joomla content view. Is this an updated site from an older CSVI version or a clean installation? If that is the case you may have some old files left, in that case you need to uninstall CSVI and install it again. Just to be sure any old files are gone.

When you start the import and you get the error, you have the URL, what if you copy paste that URL directly into a new browser window, what do you see then?

I can't get it reproduced here but if none of the above works, send me a private message with Joomla and FTP login details and the file you use for the import and I will take a look at it.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hi Rolandd. Thanks for the offer to take a closer look. I thought it might be a permissions/ownership issue with some file so I started by totally deleting the CSVI directory inside of /tmp. That ended up resolving the issue.
