Resolved Example Templates not importing

I have the exact same problem. I also tried to install the patch that you have mentioned but it says "access is denied".
VirtueMart 3.0.10
Joomla! 3.4.5
CSVI Pro 6.3.0

The reason you can't import the templates from the CSVI 5 system is because they are in a different format. In CSVI 5, all templates were managed in the CSV format, whereas they are managed in XML as of CSVI 6.

My suggestion would be as follows:

1. Create a test website of your old 2.5 site with CSVI installed
2. Update Joomla to Joomla 3.4.5
3. Update CSVI 5 to CSVI 6
4. Run the backup templates option in CSVI 6 on the test site
5. You should get an XML now of your templates
6. Import the templates into your new site

No need to worry about incompatibilities as all that is needed on this test site is to keep CSVI working to export the templates in XML format.

hi I have just installed the 6.4.1 pro, trying to install the example templates for virtuemart, but they do not install- just the joomla content related templates - I tried to follow the link in this thread but I get 'access is denied' message

this is the first time I have tried to use the 'pro' version - have always liked the free version - but in the pro version I do not seem to have fields available for things like

product name
images
category path
s desc
desc
custom fields
!!!?

(all of which are easily done in the old 'free' version)

I am not getting an error - there are just no virtuemart sample templates loading

Have you updated the CSVI VirtueMart addon as well? You can check if the following file exists: administrator\components\com_csvi\addon\com_virtuemart\install\templates.xml

If that file exists but it is not loading with the Install example templates, you can take the file and put it on your computer. Via the Maintenance menu option Restore templates choose the templates.xml file on your computer and it should be loading as well.

there is no templates.xml file in administrator\components\com_csvi\addon\com_virtuemart\install\ --> only tasks.sql & availablefields.sql

thnx for the pointer - I reinstalled the VM plugin and this time the example templates for VM loaded

That meant you had an old VM plugin because it only became available since version 6.4.0. Good to hear all worked out.
