Hello Support,

My joomla version is 3.4.8, virtuemart version is 3.0.14 and CSVI Pro version is 6.4.2. After importing csv I am having following issues.

1) Many products can not be edited in the backend. following Error on Save.
Error
vmError: Media files must have a title

2)Some items after they are imported via CSVI show "no price set" on back end. There is a price. If I hand edit the item and save, it shows the price.

3)Many item have multiple prices. I never created multipleprices. Most times they are the same price, twice. Some times the new price is listed as a second price and the web site shows the old price. Not good for me. Please check the image url

4)Problem with thumbnail images. Many do not get set up correctly. I have to remove the (default url) in the back end and save. Sometimes this help. Please check image urls

Hello,
Can you send your import file and debug log of import to check on these errors?
Kind regards,

Hello Shimon,

My joomla version is 3.4.8, virtuemart version is 3.0.14 and CSVI Pro version is 6.4.2. After importing csv I am having following issues.

The first thing recommended is upgrading your CSVI. The current version running is 6.5.7, there are a lot of issues which are fixed and new features added till this version.

1) Many products can not be edited in the backend. following Error on Save.
Error
vmError: Media files must have a title

Though you see this error, the product saving must not be a problem. The error says that virtuemart is looking for a title for the media file. Can you try adding a title in "Unique filename" field on product images tab and see if this error goes off? Also in your import template settings you would have set the Fill media fields to No, can you confirm as i don't have your debug log.

Please check the image url

http://awesomescreenshot.com/0595u9gxc7

VM shows these errors when there is no proper price set. So i am sure there should be something wrong in data you are importing. Send me the debug log and i will check what has happened.

4)Problem with thumbnail images. Many do not get set up correctly. I have to remove the (default url) in the back end and save. Sometimes this help. Please check image urls

http://awesomescreenshot.com/0075u9hec4

http://awesomescreenshot.com/06c5u9hp39

http://awesomescreenshot.com/0735u9i3a4

The products you have shown in your screenshot are not in the import file you had sent. So is it a different import file? Also, your screenshot shows that image given in the path is not found and so thumbnail is not been created. Please make sure the image is in the given path.

when I go to log tab and click on import then below debug log tag got message no debug log found.

You need to enable logging for an import in your template settings. Have a look at the documentation on how to get debug information.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Hello Shimon,
The attachment has only import files and no debug logs. Can you also send me your site login and database details to tharuna@csvimproved.com? I will check on your site as i don't see these issues when importing your file here.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Tharuna,

Thank you for explaining that I can remove all the prices from the DB and re-import them.
This is good advice but not much help.

Somehow the import from CSVI has caused inconsistencies and problems.
While this may be due to user error ( I am not perfect yet) it also may be due to a bugs.
To clean up and start again without fixing the problem is not real progress.

The upload resulted in multiple prices for some prices.
It resulted in prices that show up as "no price set" in the backend for some products.

How do I stop this from happening in the future?
How do I repair the DB?

Shimon,

There is no magic button to repair your prices. The only way to clean it up is to empty the price table and import the prices from your master file, so that each product has one price.

Only after that can you check if a subsequent import adds a price or not. The reason for getting a duplicate price will be that CSVI can't find your existing price. Either due to not enough fields to identify your price or due to too many fields.

Somehow the import from CSVI has caused inconsistencies and problems.
You keep saying that CSVI is the cause, hereby implying that everybody has inconsistencies and problems. That I do disagree with. Yes, it is CSVI that is doing the actual database changes but garbage in is garbage out of course.

The advice is then to try this with a single product first, so you can see if the import is doing what you expect. Doing it on the whole database will create a larger problem.

How do I stop this from happening in the future?
Test your import before running it.

If there is an issue with that 1 product test, you can send us the debug log for checking why the price is not recognized and as such being added. Issues like this should always be approached in a very small set, otherwise it is nearly impossible to see what is going on.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hello Shimon,
To see what is the real problem i just imported one test product on your site with your template, your fields and infact with your import file, the product_sku is Avenview 3A-PC-AC100-240V-US_test. I neither saw multiple price entry nor no price set issue, It went good for me. Since you are saying it happens to some products i doubt data imported is not good for those products. Can you find two of such products having issue with import and remove them from virtuemart and try importing again?
Send us the debug log and import file if you see any issue and we will check it.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

I sent you a test.

The import had the original import file, but only one product is the one we are looking at.17PA-5V2.6A-E

The import did not set the product to having one price as I would want it to.
Is there a way to do this ?

Roland,

You do not like me saying that the import from CSVI has caused the inconsistencies. Allow me to restate it.

My data is causing the inconsistencies when I import it. However my data appears to be fine when I look at it. So can you help me find what part of my data is causing the import to create 2 prices or prices that are there but the back end of VM to show as price not set. Or alternatively what setting in CSVI has been mis-set by me, thus causing the import to behave in an unexpected manner.

Hello Shimon,

You do not like me saying that the import from CSVI has caused the inconsistencies.
Same as you are saying that your data is causing inconsistencies I will say that CSVI can also create problems. Without proper checking, we won't find the answer. That is why I am suggesting we take this step by step.

First the prices. The only way to clean up the existing prices is to delete them all and import the correct ones. You really don't want to be making import files with the incorrect prices to delete them. I assume you have a file with your products and the prices they should be. So once that is done, at least you have clean prices and we can check with 1 product what happens if you import the price again. Depending on that result I can give you feedback on possible changes that may or may not be needed.

That is my advice to move this forward.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Can I do a product import that will cause the product to have 1 price (even if it has 2 now). The one price in the import file?

I have many items and I do not want to empty the database. It would be very disruptive. I prefer to be able to product_import each manufacturer, one at a time.

No, CSVI would only update the price if it found it.

The only other way would be to create a file with all the products and all the prices you want to delete and use the price_delete field as explained in the Import VirtueMart prices document.
Kind regards,

RolandD
