Hi,
I'm learning how to use CSVI facing a major project in which we shall use CSVI.
It was no problem for me to export and import Joomla categories and items. However, when I shall do the same for K2 I got problems. The export went well but for the import I got "ERROR, there is a problem with the import file".
When I look into the import file I can't see anything strange with the content.
I'm using field delimiter ; and text enclousure '.
I have tried to make a template with the fields in the template and jump over the first row in the file and I have also tried to set up a template in which CSVI determine the table fields.
There is no log created.
I'm using Joomla! 3.3.1 and CSVI 5.17.
I attch the import file.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Peter / Ingemar

Hello Peter / Ingemar,

The first thing I notice about your file is that it does not have an extension, this way CSVI has no idea of what kind of file you are importing. Either change the filename from K2_cat_2 to K2_cat_2.csv or in your template set the Use file extension to CSV.

Let me know how that goes.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hi,
I changed the filename to have the extension .csv and now the process was done, however, the database wasn't updated. I got success status in the log.
I tried to do the process with two different templates with the same result.
Attach the log files.
Regards,
Peter

Hello Peter,

You are using the id field. This can only be used for existing entries. Now you are telling CSVI this is my database ID and so CSVI is trying to update. That is why you get successful messages because the database always returns success for updating non-existent records.

Remove the id field and you should be good to go.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hi,
Thanks for the quick response.
I start to understand how this works now.
How far away are the 6.0 version?
Best regards,
Peter

Hello Peter,

The CSVI 6 version is not all that far anymore, it is running on a couple of sites for testing and things are looking good.

There is a number of things I have yet to do, that is testing all the import and export routines. That is a lot of work. There will also be basic HikaShop support in CSVI 6 :)

The last challenge is to come up with a converter for CSVI 5 to CSVI 6.
Kind regards,

RolandD
