Hi,

I'm getting "No supported fields have been found in the import file" when I try an import with my custom tables template which should import contacts. I think I must have configured it wrong but I can't find the problem.

The CSV file has a first line that looks like this:
"Surname","Christian name","Address","District","Town","Post code","Telephone","Mobile","Mobile 2","Email","Email 2","Family","Friends"

I need to combine name and address fields and I think I have the field mappings setup right (see first attachment) except I must be misunderstanding something.

The second attachment shows a field setup. I set the "Your field" option to the name of the field in the CSV.

The third attachment shows the rule to combine names.

Any pointers gratefully received.

Hello,

They look good but check your template if you have set the option Use column headers as configuration to No. If this is set to Yes, it will use the headers from your file and not the fields.

The list of fields to combine, remove the space before Surname as well. That should get you going.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Still no joy. I guess you mean "Use file for configuration" so I disabled that and taken the spaces out of the fields-to-combine but I still get "No supported fields have been found in the import file" in the preview step.

How does the CSVI map CSV columns to import fields? I had thought I set "Use file for configuration" to true and then use the column titles in the first line as the "your field" reference in the fields.

How does the CSVI map CSV columns to import fields?
Can be one of two ways, or the column headers in your file are used if they are the names of the CSVI fields or the fields assigned to the template. The fields assigned to the template must be in the exact same order as the columns in your file.

I had thought I set "Use file for configuration" to true and then use the column titles in the first line as the "your field" reference in the fields.
When using the "Use file for configuration" the fields are not used unless you have set the option Extra fields to Yes That is for importing fields that are not part of your import file. The Your Field reference is not used for CSV import but only for the rule plugins.
Kind regards,

RolandD

This just doesn't seem to be working. I've reduced my number of fields to 1 (My first column in the CSV "Surname" mapping to contact table field "name";) and tried again but it still reports that there are no fields found in the preview stage. I've tried it with "Use file for configuration" set to both Yes and No.

Import template settings:

Name: Import address book
Enabled: Yes
Ordering: 0
Enable logging: Yes
Enable front-end/cron: No
Template ID: 1
Secret key:
Action: Import
Component: CSVI Pro
Operation: Custom tables

Source: Load from computer

Autodetect delimiters: Yes (Also tried specifying comma and double quote)
I'm Mac: No
Use file for configuration: No (Also tried Yes)
Skip first line: No
Record name:

Custom table: contact_details

Template fields for import address book:

Import address book:
Field name *: name
Your field: Surname
Default value:
Rules: [x Don't use]
Ordering: 0

Example CSV file. First row is column headers
"Surname","Christian name","Address","District","Town","Post code","Telephone","Mobile","Mobile 2","Email","Email 2","Family","Friends"
"Jones","Fred","Somewhere","Radipole","Weymouth","DT1 XXX","01305 777777","0777 777777",,,,,

Hello,

Can you send me a private message with the file you are importing and Joomla and FTP login details. I will take a look as to what is happening with the import and why it says no fields have been found.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hello,

I applied the proposed fix mentioned in this thread and the import worked. So you can run the import now.
Kind regards,
