So I have been testing with the latest free version of CSVi (FREE) and everything has been going extremely well. Before upgrading to 3.X from 2.5 and installing CSVi 6 all of my imports worked without fault and CSVi imported all my products without error.

Since upgrading to CSVi 6 I have had an issue with SQL syntax being incorrect (I fixed this from your update file provided in a different thread) but now I still can't import my products due to apparently my "Slugs" not being unique. I am importing my products for the first time into the database, I am not including slugs in my import (like when I imported to my 2.5 Joomla installation using the CSVi Free) and I am asking CSVi to create my slugs for me to ensure Unique slugs are created (I really don't care what the slugs are).

I thought upgrading to the "Pro" version meant less problems... why have I LOST functionality from giving you money? Why when I read your forum do I see you telling people THEY should be putting in the slugs into their import when in the free version there is no requirement to do so because your product will do it for you, and correctly?

I would really appreciate you fixing this slug issue because I am not resorting to scripting an SQL query to create custom slugs so that my automatic import process stays automated. I would also prefer not to downgrade to an older version because I have spent a fair amount of time resetting up my import process within your new version.

Thanks for your time.

Regards,

Marcosis.

Hello Marocsis,

why have I LOST functionality from giving you money?
I don't think you have lost functionality. Yes, it is very unfortunate you have run into issues and I do apologize for that as that should not be the case. These issues are resolved as soon as possible.

Why when I read your forum do I see you telling people THEY should be putting in the slugs into their import when in the free version there is no requirement to do so because your product will do it for you, and correctly?
Don't know where you read that but that is not true. If no slug is provided CSVI will create one based on the product name.

I would really appreciate you fixing this slug issue because I am not resorting to scripting an SQL query to create custom slugs so that my automatic import process stays automated.
There is no need to create scripts for the slugs.

Install the patch supplied here and your slug issue should be solved.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hi Rolandd,

Thanks for the quick response, however that has not made a difference to my situation as I still receive a "Duplicate entry" error for my slugs when importing my products to the database (Sequence: Remove any added products from MySQL through PHPMyAdmin, reimport to database through CSVi). Below are the fields on my import if that makes a difference:

Warning: Spoiler Alert! [Toggle message]
Ordering Field name
1 product_sku
2 product_name
3 product_s_desc
4 product_desc
5 product_price
6 manufacturer_name
7 category_path
8 file_url_thumb
9 file_url
10 skip
11 skip
12 skip
13 skip
14 skip
15 skip
16 product_in_stock
17 product_available_date
18 product_unit
19 published

I have confirmed several times that the above are correct and the preview looks fine before clicking the import button but no dice each time I attempt to import. It will get through roughly 10 products before it comes up with the duplicate slug error.

Look forward to hearing from you soon.

Kind Regards,

Marcosis.

Hello Marcosis,

There is another scenario that could cause a duplicate entry, honestly, not a scenario I thought of before. This has now been fixed as well and the solution is more robust than before.

You can download the patch file here and please let me know if it solved for you. If not, can you please post or private message the file you are using for import so I can see why it creates duplicates. Thank you.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Hello Marcosis,

The issue has been identified and is due to the 22 products with the same name :)

Attached is an updated patch file, you can use this one or the one I sent you earlier.

Varnish cache server

I have PM'ed you more details, but I thought if someone else was having the same issue it would be nice to publicly provide the information rather than privately.

Cheers!

Hello,

Thanks for posting it here. Unfortunately I am not familiar at all with Varnish, I do know that it is a caching mechanism but that is where my knowledge of Varnish ends.

What you could do is limit the number of records per batch by setting the Lines per import to a lower number, this way the batches will be more frequent rather than long ones. This would show the server there is activity. If the problem is that there is too much activity and Varnish tries to cache this, it might be good to check if you can disable Varnish for CSVI.

No need for Varnish for the Joomla backend anyway I suspect as you won't have a lot of user activity there anyway.
Kind regards,

RolandD

Thanks for all your help RolandD, I really appreciate it.
