Hi

Joomla 3,5,1
VM 3.0.16
CSVi 6.5.7

I am struggling to create templates.

I have followed your tutorial but when i follow the 'New tempate wizard', the 'Edit Template Fields' function doesn't operate.

If I ignore that and click the 'Finalize' button then the template is formed with a note that i need to add the fields.

So, I then select the template from the template list click on the 'Edit Template Fields' button and nothing happens.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the component.

Please advise what I can do next.

Kind regards

Mike

Hello Mike,
I have followed your tutorial but when i follow the 'New tempate wizard', the 'Edit Template Fields' function doesn't operate.

Do you mean to say that you are not seeing an option of creating template fields in 'New template Wizard'?

If I ignore that and click the 'Finalize' button then the template is formed with a note that i need to add the fields.

That is correct, for a new template we wont have any template fields by default.

So, I then select the template from the template list click on the 'Edit Template Fields' button and nothing happens.

Is that when you try to edit a template, on fields tab 'Edit Template Fields' button did not work?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the component.

Please advise what I can do next.

Try doing the Create template and Create template fields in steps. First create a template by going to Templates tab >> Template, click on New button on top and complete the template wizard as you did already. I would recommend not to think about template fields when creating a template. Once the template is done, go to Templates tab >> Template fields, select the template you just created and start adding the template fields.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Thanks for your reply.

OK, thanks for that clarification - in which case may I suggest that an improvement to the workflow would be to not have the 'Select Fields' step in the wizard at all as it is superfluous.

Correct. I open the template, go to the fields tab and when I click the 'Edit Template Fields' button noithing happens.

Sorry if i wasn't clear but this is exactly what I have been doing - the 'Edit Template Fields' button is unresponsive, hence why I uninstalled and reinstalled.

Kind regards

What if you go to Templates tab >> Template fields and add fields there or by selecting quick add button on top? Does that work?
Kind regards,

Thank you - yes, using those methods does work!

OK, now I can see a way forward with the rest of the project.
