I would like to give registered users of a site the option of simply triggering a CSV export of an account list and, for example, selecting a category or, even better, a specific custom field. The file should then of course only contain the data of the corresponding category or custom field. Is this possible? Only via the backend?

Many thanks for your help
Best regards
Christoph

Hello Christoph,
There is no option in Joomla contacts export template to set category filter but you can create an override file for Joomla contacts export and set category id in the export query. That way export will contain records for that specific category.
Kind regards,

Tharuna

Hello Christoph,

The option Tharuna gives is one way. There is another option but for that you need to add the category to the list of fields in your template and you can use the Skip rule to skip all categories that should not be matched. This way only the contacts that match the given category will be in the output file. This does not have to be the category field, you can create the rule for any field in your export file.

You can enable for each template if this should be accessible via the front-end, after that you need to create a menu item for that template, the user can then use that URL to get an export of the template set in the menu item.

Let me know if that answers your question or if you have any further questions.
Kind regards,
